| | We have already developed 2 CAPTCHAs: BaffleText and Pessimal Print.
-
BaffleText was developed in conjunction by Monica Chew (UC
Berkeley) and Henry Baird (PARC). Two ideas that were incorporated
into BaffleText -
-
1. Nonsense words: To alleviate the small dictionary problem, we
used pseudorandom pronounceable words.
- 2. Gestalt psychology: People are good at inferring the whole
picture from only partial information, while machines are not.

Pessimal Print
-
Pessimal Print was developed by Allison Coates (UC Berkeley),
Henry Baird (PARC), and Richard Fateman (UC Berkeley). We synthesized
challenges by pseudo-randomly uniformly and independently
selecting: a word (from a fixed list), a typeface (from a fixed
list), and a set of image-degradation parameters (from fixed ranges).
